The Associate Principal, Strategic Account Services plays a pivotal leadership role in managing high-value client relationships, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring exceptional service delivery across key accounts. This role acts as a trusted advisor to both clients and internal stakeholders, aligning cross-functional teams to deliver measurable value and achieve account growth objectives. 

What you will be doing:

Client Relationship Management 

  • Serving as the senior point of contact for strategic accounts representing prior authorizations and utilization management products and services. 

  • Building and nurturing long-term client relationships by deeply understanding their business goals, challenges, and opportunities. 

  • Acting as a strategic advisor, guiding clients through complex decision-making and solution adoption. 

Strategic Planning & Execution 

  • Developing and execute comprehensive account strategies in collaboration with clients and internal teams. 

  • Driving initiatives that support client retention, satisfaction, and revenue growth. 

Cross-Functional Leadership 

  • Partnering with internal teams across operations, product, marketing, finance, and legal to ensure seamless service delivery and issue resolution. 

  • Championing client needs and advocate for solutions that align with both client and company objectives. 

Performance Monitoring & Reporting 

  • Monitoring account performance against KPIs and SLAs. 

  • Delivering regular executive-level updates, insights, and recommendations based on data-driven analysis. 

Revenue Growth & Opportunity Development 

  • Identifying and pursuing opportunities for account expansion, upselling, and cross-selling. 

  • Collaborating with business development and product teams to align solutions with client needs. 

Innovation & Continuous Improvement 

  • Proactively identifying opportunities to enhance client outcomes and internal processes. 

  • Introducing innovative ideas that improve service quality, client engagement, and operational efficiency. 

Mentorship & Team Development 

  • Mentoring junior team members and contributing to a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence. 

Client Knowledge & Documentation 

  • Maintaining a deep understanding of each client’s use cases, workflows, and strategic goals. 

  • Documenting and communicating how Availity’s capabilities align with client needs, and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base for each account. 

 

To be qualified for this role, you have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. 

  • 8+ years of experience in client services, account management, or strategic partnerships within the healthcare industry. 

  • 1–3 years of experience in a provider or payer environment, ideally with exposure to prior authorization or utilization management workflows. This is required to be considered for the role.

  • Proven ability to manage complex, high-value client relationships and communicate effectively across technical and business domains. 

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a consultative approach to client engagement. 

  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing without authority. 

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. 

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights. 

What will set you apart:

  • Operational experience in both provider and payer environments. 

  • Technical understanding of healthcare IT systems, including payer UM systems, EMRs, and integration standards such as EDI and FHIR.

  • Familiarity with prior authorization and utilization management workflows from both health plan and provider perspectives.
