The brand-new facility utilizes the latest technology to increase the company's manufacturing capacity in parenteral (injectable) medications, device assembly and packaging operations. The Associate–Learning & Development (L&D), is responsible for the creation, coordination, and implementation of learning solutions for the Concord, NC manufacturing site. This role at a state-of-the-art site is an exciting opportunity for an L&D associate to train, educate, and design training solutions for a rapidly growing organization. 

The L&D Associate will partner with Lilly Concord site leaders to ensure that appropriate curricula are assigned to employees, based on their job responsibilities and compliance obligations. They will understand the needs of our organization, and design programs and run projects to create and deliver learning programs to suit company objectives and local site capability and compliance needs. Key Objectives/Deliverables:    

L&D Portfolio Management:

  • Identify, analyze, and determine solutions regarding capability gaps

  • Partner with the business to define what a qualified Concord team member looks like based on their job responsibilities then design an appropriate curriculum

  • Create, revise, and implement procedure, training, and related documents, ensuring they are well written, executable, and compliant with applicable policies/procedures

  • Facilitate the review of documents and training materials to ensure compliance and learning requirements are met

  • Ensure that training solutions are aligned to global strategy where appropriate by proactively connecting with the Global L&D organization

  • Ensure that current training courses/interventions are effective – and if not, identify an alternative and implement

  • Proactively identify areas where capability challenges exist and design interventions on how to reduce those issues

  • Create initial project scope documents, appropriately leveraging learning services suppliers for outsourced work to achieve business objectives

  • Create, review, and oversee execution of implementation plan(s), ensuring effective coordination with personnel who create and revise business area/function SOPs and other documents

  • Monitor and communicate program/portfolio status to key business partners

  • Anticipate and resolve project/program issues, escalating as appropriate

  • Think strategically about the best way to train our team members – not just what has been done, but the best way to get them effectively trained, understand the why behind the requirements and be able to use their knowledge quickly

  • Benchmark cross functionally within Lilly as appropriate, seeking sharing and replication opportunities

  • Conduct usability testing as required

  • Share business metrics, interpretations, and solutions with Supervisor, business partners/process teams

Client Management:

  • Participate regularly in area/function project and process teams.

  • Understand Concord functions deeply, including business goals, job titles and descriptions, key duties, and responsibilities

  • Monitor Concord team members’ satisfaction of learning programs and use that feedback to improve our programs

  • Consult across the assigned business area/function and the Lilly learning community to ensure training plans align with business plan, strategic direction, and compliance and ethics

  • Influence your Concord team leaders to think about the most efficient and effective way to deliver training interventions that are meaningful, useful, and relevant to their roles

  • Manage suppliers working on L&D related projects to ensure delivery and performance mirror or exceeds our agreements; ensure that the deliverables meet the needs of our site team members.

Curriculum Architecture and Assignment:

  • Identify target audience for specific learning interventions. Partner with Global Learning Services and/or learning services suppliers for effective and timely implementation of learning interventions, considering change impact on current population of (trained) learners and future/new learners.

  • Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of course and curriculum data owned by assigned business area/function in the Learning Management System (LMS)

  • Troubleshoot curriculum architecture and assignment issues in collaboration with suppliers and Global Learning Services as needed

  • Implement centrally developed process improvements in local business area/function

Instructor Delivery:

  • Ensure internal instructor/facilitator qualification process is executed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Experience in learning or training content development and/or project management, preferably in a regulated industry (GMP, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or comparable regulated environment)

  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization or visas for this role, including but not limited to F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, J-1, H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, or L-1.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability and willingness to challenge business partners regarding ways to use learning interventions to meet business requirements most effectively

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Experience working in a regulated environment

  • Strong Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote) skills

  • Experience with Technical Writing

  • Experience using learning management software (such as SuccessFactors) and learning request tools (such as ServiceNow)

  • Experience in business area/function as well as knowledge of companion tools used to execute broader business processes (such as document repositories and content authoring)

  • Experience in instructional design and development (particularly computer-based and mobile learning) including instructional videos.

  • Ability to navigate complex, matrix-based organizations.

Other Information:

  • English language proficiency

  • Travel may be required (0-10%)

  • This position will support the Concord manufacturing site and on-site presence is required. Work outside of standard hours may be required to support shift staff or major projects.

  • Applicant will work in various areas within a manufacturing site

  • This position will report within the HR organization to the L&D Associate Director for the Lilly Concord site.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$58,500 - $137,500

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
