This RoleWe are looking for someone interested in learning how to develop and manage reliable infrastructure in a production environment. An ideal candidate is one who is relatively new to the industry or coming from an early software development background that would like to focus on building infrastructure. You will work on a small experienced team, learning to develop new features and assist in maintaining a brand new, reliable, and compliance focused approach to infrastructure.
What You’ll LearnIn this role you have the opportunity to learn the following:
- How to effectively configure and manage an AWS Organization
- How to avoid common pitfalls and build reliable infrastructure with Terraform
- How to detect and respond to threats and availability issues
- How to think about system reliability and resilience while considering tradeoffs
- Our infrastructure is developed using Terraform and is hosted on AWS. We aim to maintain a high level of compliance with various security and government standards. We also build command line tooling using the Go programming language.
- Our team primarily works via Slack and Gitlab issues with meetings over Zoom when detailed discussion is required.
- Our team coordinates with the engineering team to ensure that the infrastructure meets the needs for feature development and developer experience.
- Participate with the development of team practices and improved documentation for the engineering team to benefit from.
- Develop and improve continuous integration practices for the infrastructure
- Work with engineering to improve developer experience and interactions with the infrastructure
- Good written communication skills
- Basic experience or understanding of Unix-like operating systems
- Basic understanding of AWS
- Know the difference between a client and a server
- General scripting abilities
- Experience developing software a plus
- Preference in Charlotte, NC, with remote a consideration
- 30 min - Introduction Call with Director of Infrastructure
- 1 hr - Behavioral Interview with Directors of Infrastructure and Engineering
- 90 min - Technical Interview with Infrastructure Engineer
- Our technical assessment is a discussion about infrastructure design and various failure scenarios that the candidate is to consider and provide a walkthrough of how they would approach the scenario.
- 90 min - Onsite with members from the Product, Design, and Engineering teams
