OverviewWe are seeking a sharp and strategic legal professional to join our small but highly impactful legal team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with strong business acumen and the ability to navigate complex legal landscapes with confidence and precision. As Associate General Counsel, you will work closely with our General Counsel to oversee a broad spectrum of legal matters, ensuring the company operates effectively across domestic and international markets. You will collaborate cross-functionally with every department in the company, playing a key role in developing and executing on our regulatory strategy, structuring strategic transactions, guiding product development, deploying and overseeing internal processes, and mitigating legal risks.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide thoughtful legal counsel on a broad range of corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters, ensuring alignment with business objectives and risk tolerance.
Develop and oversee our regulatory strategy including those governing healthcare, AI, and FDA-regulated Software as a Medical Device (SaMD).
Partner with R&D, engineering, and regulatory teams to support the development and deployment of SaMD products in line with FDA, EU MDR, and other relevant frameworks.
Monitor and interpret evolving domestic and international regulations, ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
Negotiate and draft high-value, sophisticated customer agreements, including international contracts, with attention to cross-border regulations, IP protections, and data privacy obligations.
Lead or contribute to the development of internal policies and best practices related to intellectual property, data privacy, cybersecurity, compliance, and international legal frameworks.
Proactively identify and mitigate legal risks associated with healthcare and AI product development, commercialization, and international expansion.
Depending on expertise and interest, take ownership of additional legal functions such as employment law, corporate governance, patent strategy, or government affairs.
Must-Have:
Juris Doctor (JD) from a Tier 1 law school.
Licensed to practice law.
8-12 years of broad-based legal experience
Meaningful exposure to FDA regulated devices.
STEM background (e.g., an engineering degree or prior experience in a technology-driven environment).
Nice-to-Have:
Experience in a high-growth startup, SaaS, or healthcare technology company.
Litigation experience
