About OnePay

OnePay is the consumer fintech trusted by millions of Americans to make money better.

Our financial system is broken. High fees, low rates, and too few ways to actually grow your money. We’re fixing it. And we’re moving fast.

We’re an all-in-one financial services platform that brings together banking, high-yield savings, credit cards, point-of-sale lending, investing, and crypto in one place. We also partner with employers, HCM providers, gig platforms, and others to deliver embedded financial services to millions of employees and frontline workers.

We’re backed by Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, and Ribbit Capital, one of fintech’s most respected investors, giving us rare scale, distribution, and the opportunity to build something truly category-defining.

But what really sets OnePay apart is how we move. Our customers don’t have time to wait… and neither do we. This place moves fast, and we’re looking for people who are:

  • Ready to run

  • Hungry and driven by urgency

  • Exceptional at what they do, with low ego

  • Comfortable operating in motion

Associate General Counsel, Corporate

As Associate General Counsel, you will be a key legal partner helping OnePay scale its financial services platform and partnerships. You will play a critical role in structuring, negotiating, and managing complex commercial relationships that power our business, while helping shape the systems, practices, and team that enable us to grow responsibly.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role at the intersection of law, finance, and technology. It is well-suited for a strategic legal operator who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and can navigate intensity, ambiguity, and imperfect processes with steady judgment.

What You’ll Do

Lead payments related transactions. Draft, negotiate, and manage a wide range of commercial and strategic agreements, with a strong focus on payments and payment networks, including: (i) payment network and related ecosystem arrangements involving parties such as Mastercard, Visa, Marqeta, Stripe, and other program managers, issuing and acquiring partners, (ii) processor and platform partnerships, and (iii) partnerships and vendor relationships that support our products.

Support digital wallet and crypto adjacent initiatives. Advise and execute on initiatives involving digital wallets and emerging rails, including: (i) digital wallet enablement and integrations, (ii) crypto and stablecoin related products and partnerships, and (iii) contracting and risk allocation for novel technology partners.

Navigate data ownership, sharing, and governance. Be an agile and informed partner for data questions that arise in commercial deals, including: (i) data ownership and permitted uses, and (ii) data sharing structures and downstream flowdowns.

Embed with the business. Partner closely with teams across Product, Commercial, Procurement, Finance, Corporate Development, and Operations to proactively identify legal risks and design pragmatic, business-aligned solutions.

Operate effectively in a complex, high intensity environment. Help triage, prioritize, and unblock work in a fast-moving environment where inputs may be incomplete and timelines tight. Bring calm, structure, and forward progress without waiting for perfect conditions.

Help the legal function scale with AI and better systems. Contribute to building light-weight, stage-appropriate, scalable legal processes, templates, playbooks, and policies. Bring curiosity and practical experimentation with AI tools to accelerate contract review, knowledge management, issue spotting, and internal advisory workflows, while maintaining appropriate controls and confidentiality.

What You Bring
  • J.D. and active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar

  • 10+ years of experience practicing corporate and commercial law, including at a leading law firm and in-house at a fintech, payments company, or financial services business

  • Significant experience with payments and payment network ecosystems, including processor partnerships and agreements involving counterparties such as Mastercard, Visa, Marqeta, Checkout, or similar participants

  • Experience advising on digital wallet products or partnerships, and comfort engaging on crypto and stablecoin adjacent topics from a commercial and risk perspective

  • Strong working knowledge of data rights and governance in commercial deals, including ownership, sharing, DPAs, security terms, and operational implementation

  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and project management skills with a strong eye for detail

  • A practical, business-first mindset with the ability to weigh legal risk in the context of product, operational, and commercial realities

  • Clear, concise communication skills across technical and non-legal audiences, with the ability to influence decision-making at multiple levels

  • Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment while managing multiple priorities

  • Low ego, high ownership, and strong collaborative instincts. No task is too big or too small

  • Genuine interest in using AI thoughtfully to improve legal team velocity and quality
