The Finance Associate will be involved in the finance and accounting activities of firsthand, including investment / capital allocation strategy development, budgeting / forecasting, financial analysis, fundraising, and board communications and presentations. You will help translate data into clear narratives for leadership, support planning and forecasting processes, and provide analysis that guides both day-to-day operations and long-term strategy. This fully remote role (with opportunities for travel)
reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will have close collaboration with the SVP, Finance (both based in Greater NYC Area).
As Finance Associate you will:
- Perform rigorous financial planning, analysis, and reporting processes with communications and materials prepared for stakeholders including the board of directors, management team, department leaders, and market leaders
- Build and maintain detailed bottoms-up operational and financial forecast models to inform near- and long-term initiatives
- Deliver monthly and quarterly reporting and analysis of key business metrics to leaders across the organization, identifying what factors are most relevant to each stakeholder
- Drive ad hoc analyses end-to-end to support team members across the organization in making resource allocation decisions
- Work with Operations and Clinical teams to set hiring and performance targets for market-level staff and track performance against plan
- Assist with financial statement audits, tax reporting, and developing strong internal processes & controls.
- Shape the future of firsthand’s Finance & Accounting teams by implementing best-in-class systems and processes
You will be a good fit if you have a:
- Deep understanding of financial, accounting, and investment concepts and knowledge of U.S. GAAP principles
- Strong financial modeling skills (utilizing both Microsoft and Google product suites), with the ability to simplify complex information into clear, actionable insights
- Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and outside parties (including consultants, advisors, and customers)
- Detail- and output-oriented mindset that can be rigorously applied to both quantitative and qualitative analyses
- Ability to summarize and visualize financial and statistical data into meaningful insights for the relevant audience (e.g., management, market leaders)
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability
The experience you bring to this role:
- Bachelor’s and/or MBA degree in Finance, Accounting, and/or Statistics
- CFA and/or CPA preferred
- 3+ years of experience in financial services (IB, PE, venture capital) and/or value-based healthcare corporate finance roles
- Experience with financial systems and/or business intelligence tools
