Lilly is entering an exciting period of growth and has invested over $1 billion to create a new state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Concord, North Carolina. The brand-new facility will utilize the latest technology to increase the company's manufacturing capacity in parenteral (injectable) medications, device assembly, and packaging operations. The RoleYou will be part of Technology at Lilly (IT) MQ (Manufacturing and Quality), an organization that drives manufacturing operational excellence through the utilization of technology. Technology at Lilly MQ strives to enable the making of medicine "with safety first and quality always."
As Associate Director of Technology at Lilly Concord, you will be at the forefront of driving technological advancements and ensuring the smooth operation of critical IT systems. Leading a talented team, you will develop and implement strategic IT initiatives to support the production of life-saving medicines, ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of Technology at Lilly systems.
How You'll SucceedProject & Support Delivery- Ensure reliable project and support delivery for IT systems supporting QC operations, including LabVantage, Moda, Empower, and all QC equipment lifecycle support.
- Lead and manage IT projects, ensuring timely delivery within allocated budgets and resources — defining requirements, developing plans, and coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Drive innovation in system support and delivery using AI and advanced analytics; manage the delivery of analytics solutions.
- Oversee disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure uninterrupted site operations.
- Ensure systems and equipment compliance with FDA guidelines, GMP requirements, and cybersecurity standards, collaborating with auditors to address findings promptly.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with business objectives, driving innovation and operational efficiency across a greenfield, digitally-native manufacturing site.
- Identify and prioritize technology initiatives — including cloud, IoT, AI, and data analytics — that support site growth and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Partner cross-functionally locally and globally to establish and dynamically adapt the site IT roadmap to evolving strategic directions and emerging technology trends.
- Benchmark innovative solutions internally and externally; serve as a member of cross-functional leadership teams such as the Flow Team.
- Act as Senior Director backup and serve as the IT Concord Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Leader.
- Build and lead a high-performing IT team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities that promote team growth and retention.
- Lead recognition, compensation, promotion, talent assessment, and succession planning activities for your group.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration between IT and other departments to align solutions with business needs.
- Establish a strong site culture grounded in Lilly values, operational excellence standards, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing IT teams.
- Experience facilitating cross-functional collaboration, aligning IT initiatives with business needs, and fostering a culture of innovation and operational excellence.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing IT strategies aligned with business goals and industry best practices.
- Understanding of emerging technologies — cloud computing, IoT, AI, and data analytics — and their potential applications in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Experience with IT service management (ITSM) frameworks like ITIL, ensuring efficient incident management, problem resolution, and change management.
- Proven track record delivering complex IT projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and tools such as Jira, Microsoft Project, or Trello.
- In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry, including FDA guidelines and GMP compliance.
- Experience implementing and maintaining validated systems, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards (CSV).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of IT leadership experience in a GMP-regulated industry.
- Experience with IT audits, compliance assessments, and remediation activities, including addressing findings and implementing corrective actions.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Exposure to international operations, diverse teams, global IT projects, or working in a global organization.
- Previous LEAN and Agile experience.
- Role is Monday through Friday and based on-site in Concord, NC. Flexibility may be required to accommodate production schedules, shutdowns, or off-hour support needs.
- Occasional travel to Indianapolis and other global Lilly sites is required.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$132,000 - $193,600Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
