Position Summary

The Associate Director, Corporate Finance & Treasury is a critical finance leadership role responsible for planning and executing the company's enterprise-wide financing strategy, capital structure, and long-term investment management. This role will manage complex financings, analyze capital markets, and lead cross-functional initiatives to optimize the company's cost of capital, manage risk exposure, and support high-impact strategic investments.

The Associate Director will be a key partner to internal leadership and external stakeholders—including rating agencies, banks, counsel, and regulators—ensuring the company is well-positioned for both operational and strategic growth across its renewable energy portfolio.

This position is located in Charlotte, NC.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Finance & Capital Strategy

  • Develop and execute the company’s short- and long-term financing strategies to support growth, optimize the maturity profile, and minimize the cost of capital

  • Manage Revolving Credit Facility, Letter of Credit and Parent Guarantee processes

  • Analyze existing capital structures, identify refinancing opportunities, and implement improvements in coordination with internal and external partners

  • Partner with FP&A to forecast enterprise-wide capital requirements and cash flows, ensuring alignment with the company’s financial goals

Risk Management & Derivatives

  • Evaluate, structure, and execute interest rate and foreign exchange derivatives to manage financial risk

  • Monitor market conditions and maintain compliance with hedge accounting and reporting standards

Treasury Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee long-term debt activities, including covenant compliance, interest and principal tracking, and lender reporting

  • Ensure all financing-related regulatory and compliance filings are prepared and submitted on time, including those with state commissions and SEC reporting (as applicable)

  • Manage internal board reporting and enterprise-wide treasury reporting

Strategic Investment Management

  • Support oversight of long-term investments such as pension and retirement plan trusts, decommissioning trusts, and other special-purpose investment vehicles

  • Develop and implement investment policy recommendations, asset allocation strategies, and risk/return guidelines

  • Ensure alignment with applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., NRC, ERISA) and support the Investment Committee’s governance responsibilities

Cross-Functional & External Relationship Management

  • Serve as a strategic advisor across Treasury, Accounting, Legal, Regulatory, Human Resources, and the business units on matters related to financing, liquidity, and investment policy

  • Manage key external relationships including banking syndicates, financial advisors, credit rating agencies, legal counsel, investment managers, and regulatory bodies

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field

  • Six (6) years or more of progressive treasury or corporate finance experience, including cash management and treasury operations with one (1) year or more of direct reports

Desired Qualifications

  • Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) or CPA designation

  • Eight (8) years or more of progressive treasury or corporate finance experience, including cash management and treasury operations with one (1) year or more of direct reports

  • Experience with treasury systems (e.g., Kyriba, PeopleSoft, NetSuite) and bank platforms

  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, influence cross-functional teams, and present insights to senior leadership

  • Experience in Renewable energy, infrastructure, or capital-intensive sectors

  • Strong analytical, Excel, and financial modeling skills

  • Familiarity with SOX compliance, internal controls, and audit processes

  • High emotional intelligence, with the ability to lead through influence and collaboration

Working Conditions

  • This is an in-person role based in Charlotte, NC with hybrid opportunity (1 day remote)

  • Up to 10% travel required
