The Role
In this role, you'll be a part of the global Audience Strategy and Insights team focused on driving B2B audience growth through onsite content experiences and other digital channels such as search, social media, email newsletters, and third-party platforms. You'll work with a cross functional team across the corporate marketing as well as the business unit marketing teams, web and digital strategy, investment research, and corporate communications to adapt our research and ideas into useful insights and thought leadership content for advisors, asset managers, and asset owners. You'll help guard our brand guidelines and content governance standards for quality through editing and writing for a variety of content formats such as blogs, long form assets, data visualizations, podcasts, and video. You'll ensure our content is optimized, working closely with marketing intelligence to understand how our content performed. By connecting retail and institutional audiences with our investment research and data, thought leadership insights, and professional solutions, you will help increase brand awareness, engagement, and consideration of Morningstar while serving our mission of empowering investors.
This role is based in the New York or Chicago office. To foster continuous collaboration, at least three days in the office per week is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define a cohesive editorial position and tone for the B2B website through curation of onsite content lineups sourced from various business units, research analysts, subject matter experts, and writers.
- Edit and write as needed a variety of content assets including short blog articles, feature-length research papers, video or podcast scripts, email newsletters, and social media posts.
- Oversee content performance and adjust accordingly based on Morningstar priorities, site engagement data, headline testing capabilities, SEO metrics, and other forms of marketing intelligence.
- Become an expert on our audience types and the content topics and formats they prefer to drive audience growth and engagement.
- Be aware of the top stories driving the market and industry trends with our audiences to evaluate how best to tap into the investing conversation of the day and surface relevant content.
- Connect relevant financial news with our research insights and thought leadership content that our audiences can use and connect to our solutions.
- Be an active editor by coaching writers and analysts on how to best tell their stories.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 8+ years of experience in financial journalism, investment writing, B2B content marketing, or corporate communications, preferably in the asset management or investment management space.
- Education: Bachelor's degree required (English, journalism, marketing, or related field preferred). Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) or CFA designation a plus.
- Expertise: Deep understanding of financial markets, investment concepts, asset management industry, and/or the institutional investor ecosystem.
- Expertise: Excellent editing and writing skills, including an ability to establish a narrative based on conceptual and data-focused themes. A portfolio of published articles or written work is required.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret complex data, derive insights, and communicate findings to executive stakeholders.
- Enterprise Acumen: Proven success working in a global, multi-product, matrixed organization, navigating complex structures, engaging in collaborative problem solving, and driving alignment across diverse stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of content management systems and constructing an editorial calendar.
- Expertise in search engine optimization practices and how to optimize content a plus.
- Superb verbal communication skills as well as organization and attention to detail.
Base Salary Compensation Range
$105,260.00 - 189,460.00 USD Annual
Total Cash Compensation Range
$131,575.00 - 236,825.00 USD Annual
