JOB SUMMARY

 

As Assistant General Counsel, Employment, Benefits and Compliance, you will serve as leader of the global in-house employment, benefits and compliance function for ADI Global Distribution. (ADI or the Company).  Resideo Technologies Inc. has announced its intent to spin off its ADI distribution business into a separate, publicly traded company.  In connection with the spin-off, ADI is seeking an Assistant General Counsel, Employment, Benefits and Compliance.  This position offers you an exciting opportunity to lead the employment, benefits and compliance functions in a newly formed public company, and to serve as a strategic advisor to the Company's General Counsel and head of Human Resources.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the global employment & benefits law and compliance functions, overseeing a team of professionals who support the Integrity & Compliance function and provide employment advice in the Europe and Asia Pacific regions.
  • Support executive compensation matters, including matters such as stock plans, officer and director compensation, and Compensation Committee actions, partnering with the head of Human Resources and the Vice President of Total Rewards.
  • Dual hat as Americas employment counsel, providing strategic advice, counseling, risk analyses, policy alignment, interpretation and implementation, as well as litigation management and litigation avoidance, in the U.S., Mexico and Canada.  
  • Partner with outside benefits attorneys to support U.S. benefits law matters.
  • Lead the Integrity & Compliance function, which includes oversight of the Company's Code of Business Conduct, helpline complaints, investigations, gifts & hospitality and conflicts of interest policies and practices, and compliance training.
  • As leader of the employment & benefits law and compliance functions, you are expected to be a strategic partner to the General Counsel, the head of HR and the business generally.  You will be expected to know the business and understand business issues, in addition to the legal landscape and risks. You will need to lead and manage people to ensure you have a highly functioning team of professionals.

 

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree and current admission to one or more state bars
  • 8+ years substantial employment and traditional labor law experience, including experience both at a law firm and in-house for a U.S. publicly traded company
  • Experience with employment law matters and litigation outside the United States.
  • Demonstrated experience in shaping organizational direction and policy, and advising executives, around employment and benefits legal risk and compliance at an enterprise level.
  • Proven track record of managing legal teams and complex legal operations across diverse geographic regions.
