Lead marketing and promotions for 17 athletic programs to maximize attendance and revenue. Develop season-ticket and group sales campaigns, manage game-day promotions and fan experience, create sponsorship opportunities, support Panther Club events, design marketing materials, and supervise interns and student workers. Coordinate event logistics, promotions, video/audio assets, and community/group engagement consistent with NCAA and conference rules.
High Point University is currently seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Marketing. The candidate selected for this position will help generate revenue, interest and awareness for 17 athletic programs at HPU. They will be responsible for investing Marketing Department resources to maximize attendance, developing and implementing season ticket and group ticket sales campaigns, and managing all aspects of game day promotions and maximizing fan experience. They will also create and implement sponsorship opportunities and support Panther Club initiatives. The selected candidate will supervise Marketing Department interns and student workers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business or related field or equivalent experience required; master’s degree preferred.
Experience and Training:
- Minimum 1- year experience in NCAA Division I Athletic Department preferred.
- Minimum 1-year sales/marketing/development experience required.
- Demonstrated understanding of college athletics and revenue production required.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with potential sponsors and donors.
- Top-notch customer service skills and commitment to fan experience.
- Ability to design marketing materials; proficient in use of Microsoft Office products and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Ability to think creatively and act independently.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to manage a flexible schedule, including travel and attendance at all home and select road athletic events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Cultivates sponsorship opportunities by identifying sponsors for solicitation and cultivating existing relationships.
- Implements advertising campaigns for specific sports including ticket sales.
- Promotes athletic events utilizing campus e-mails, campus TVs, flyers, social media, campus and student organizations.
- Works with community groups, guest acts, and large groups to entertain and enhance game day atmosphere.
- Coordinates athletic special events including Panther Club annual functions.
- Designs Marketing Department materials for sport programs.
- Oversees all marketing game day operations:
- Writes and oversees game scripts including the timeline for band, dance and cheer.
- Directs on-court promotions and coordinate crowd giveaways with sponsors.
- Orchestrates video board graphics and audio.
- Schedules and organizes live National Anthem performances, halftime acts, and special presentations.
- Creates and maintains a safe, fun, and enjoyable atmosphere in reflection of the university’s image and consistent with Big South Conference and NCAA rules and regulations
