Your Role

Reporting to the VP Finance, the Assistant Controller plays a key role in ensuring accurate, reliable, and scalable financial operations. This role oversees financial reporting, strengthens internal controls, and drives continuous improvement across accounting processes and systems.

This is a hands on role within a growing organization, suited to an experienced Assistant Controller seeking broader operational exposure and a path toward a future Controller position.


Your Responsibilities Include:

Financial Reporting and Accounting Oversight

  • Oversee the integrity and completeness of financial records and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, as applicable
  • Support multi entity consolidation and foreign currency translation
  • Review complex journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analyses
  • Oversee month end close and reporting processes
  • Partner with the accounting team to resolve reporting issues

Audit and External Relationships

  • Serve as day to day contact for external auditors
  • Coordinate audit deliverables and support audit planning
  • Maintain documentation to ensure audit readiness
  • Support interactions with external advisors as needed

Internal Controls and Process Improvement

  • Assess accounting processes and internal controls
  • Implement scalable improvements to workflows and controls
  • Develop and maintain process documentation and SOPs
  • Drive continuous improvement across accounting operations

Systems and Operational Improvements

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and data flows
  • Leverage NetSuite, Vena, and other systems to improve efficiency
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to align operational and accounting processes

Team Collaboration and Leadership

  • Partner with accounting team members to improve workflows
  • Provide guidance on accounting approaches and processes
  • Support team development and evolving organizational needs
  • Provide mentorship to junior accounting staff

Finance Partnership

  • Support the VP Finance in scaling the finance function
  • Participate in cross functional initiatives impacting financial operations


Your Experience So Far:

  • CPA designation with strong accounting fundamentals
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in financial reporting
  • Meaningful experience in financial reporting with exposure to IFRS
  • Experience overseeing accounting processes in a complex or growing organization
  • Experience in a manufacturing and/or SaaS business environment is an asset
  • Public practice background is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to assess processes and implement improvements
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Experience with ERP systems in multi-entity environments. Familiarity with NetSuite is an asset
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to operate with autonomy and proactively improve finance operations


Location and Compensation:

This is a hybrid role with flexibility to work remotely, however candidates must be based within a commutable distance of our Vancouver, BC office to support in person collaboration when required.

The salary range for this role is set at $110,000 to $130,000 commensurate with experience.
