About NumeralHQ

Numeral is building the automation backbone for internet commerce — starting with the painful world of sales tax compliance. We handle everything from registration to remittance, delivering a white-glove service so e-commerce businesses can stay laser-focused on what they do best: growing their products, customers, and teams.

We’re one of the fastest-growing companies from Y Combinator’s W23 batch, backed by top-tier investors including Benchmark Capital. Our team has deep roots from the early days at Stripe, Airbnb, Notion, and other breakout companies — and now we’re bringing that same level of craft, speed, and ambition to a space that’s long overdue for reinvention.

Numeral is small but mighty. Growth is already borderline unmanageable — which means every hire we make now will directly shape the trajectory of the company. If you’re excited about joining as an early team member and want the kind of ownership that defines careers, we want to meet you.

Mission

Running an online business today means wearing a thousand hats — most of them not the reason founders started their company. Our mission is to eliminate the administrative and accounting burdens that distract businesses from doing what they love.

We’ve already helped hundreds of merchants avoid the headache of building giant finance teams just to manage tax compliance. Tomorrow, we’re scaling that impact even further: building the automation layer that lets internet businesses stay nimble, compliant, and future-proof.

About the role:

We’re looking for Numeral’s first Assistant Controller to own our accounting operations and quote-to-cash systems. This is a hybrid role: part technical controller, part systems builder. You’ll run the close, ensure AP and vendors are seamless, and keep our Salesforce → Stripe → ERP pipeline airtight.

You’ll be hands-on in the details while also designing the scalable processes and systems that let us move faster with accuracy. This is a career-defining opportunity for someone who wants to grow into a Controller/Director-level role while shaping the foundation of a high-growth startup.

Responsibilities:
  • Own the monthly close: Drive reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting — continuously shortening timelines while improving accuracy.

  • Run accounts payable: Lead vendor onboarding, disbursements, and 1099s with strong controls and reliability.

  • Protect revenue integrity: Partner with Sales to enforce pipeline hygiene in Salesforce, debug Q2C issues, and ensure Closed-Won → invoice → Stripe → ERP is seamless and auditable.

  • Handle day-to-day RevOps requests: router updates, routing issues, Salesforce errors, and field additions.

  • Scale systems: Lead our NetSuite migration and integration with Salesforce/Stripe, including chart of accounts design, data migration, and parallel close readiness.

  • Enable teams: Be the go-to for Salesforce/RevOps requests and reporting, building the visibility Finance and Sales need to forecast bookings and revenue.

Qualifications:
  • 6+ years in accounting/finance with hands-on close ownership (CPA preferred).

  • Strong experience in QuickBooks and proven track record with NetSuite or ERP migration.

  • Familiarity with Salesforce Q2C workflows (billing, invoicing, integrations) and comfort debugging fields/flows.

  • Understanding of Stripe (or Zuora/Chargebee) and ASC 606 compliance in a SaaS revenue model.

  • Clear, confident communicator who can partner cross-functionally and hold the line when needed.

Bonus Points For:
  • Prior SaaS startup experience scaling revenue systems including SaaS revenue model experience (subscription, deferred revenue, ASC 606).

  • Salesforce Admin certification.

  • Experience leading a NetSuite implementation.

Why Join Us?
  • Be a core builder in an ambitious, globally minded startup.

  • Learn hands-on how to scale international compliance systems.

  • Work across functions and with leadership early in your career.

  • Make a visible impact immediately through enablement and operational design.

  • Enjoy a flexible, remote-first culture with strong mentorship and ownership opportunities.
