About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an Application Management Operational Risk Executive.
This highly skilled and experienced professional will lead the Independent Risk Management, 2nd line oversight, of the Application Risk Management team. This individual will have a strong background in Application Engineering and Delivery Lifecycle, with expertise in various aspects of application management. This role is critical in ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our application portfolio. It involves developing and implementing a comprehensive application management risk strategy that aligns with the company's goals and objectives and building the team to support such a strategy.
This collaborative leader will work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, risk management, and compliance, to ensure that technology initiatives support business needs. The Executive Head of Application Risk Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) and the Technology Change Management Policy and Procedures, including roles, responsibilities, infrastructure, systems, tools, metrics, and educational activities. They will perform independent oversight of application governance, risks and controls across the SDLC spectrum. Additionally, they will develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of application management initiatives and identify and mitigate risks associated with application management, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
The role involves building, leading and mentoring a global team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. The Executive Head will also collaborate with Independent Testing and Validation to determine testing and validation scope, requirements, and related activities. They will review application management risks and incorporate testing and validation results, as appropriate, into independent risk assessments and risk monitoring.
In this role, you will:
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive Application Risk Management strategy aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Application Engineering: Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of applications, ensuring they meet business requirements and adhere to best practices.
  • Delivery Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire application lifecycle, from inception to end-of-life, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of application updates and new releases.
  • Release & Technical Change Management: Oversee the release of application updates and implementation of technical changes to applications, ensuring minimal disruption to business, client and customer operations and adherence to release schedules.
  • SDLC & Configuration Management: Oversee the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and manage application configurations.
  • Capacity/Demand Management (Application Level): Monitor application capacity and demand, ensuring optimal performance and resource utilization.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of application management professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, risk management, and compliance, to ensure technology initiatives support business needs.
  • Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in application delivery and management practices.
  • Performance Monitoring: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of application management initiatives.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with application development management, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
As a leader, you will lead your team with integrity and create an environment where your employees feel included, valued, and supported to do work that energizes them. You will have accountability for management responsibilities which include sourcing and hiring talented employees, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing, and developing employees, identifying, and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks.
Required Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of Operational Risk experience or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of Management experience
Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a related field: Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar.
  • Professional certifications in application management and knowledge of related technologies
  • Proven experience in application engineering, delivery lifecycle management or Dev Ops functions.
  • Strong understanding of release management, technical change management, and SDLC processes.
  • Experience with configuration management and capacity/demand management at the application level.
  • Experience in risk management and mitigation strategies.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in application management.
  • Strong knowledge of industry best practices and compliance standards
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking coupled with an ability to translate ambiguous ideas/issues into well-defined plans/solutions with a track record for delivering results.
  • Effective communicator, both orally and in writing, able to ask well-crafted questions and present ideas in a clear and compelling manner; good listener who engenders creative thinking and teamwork.
  • An ability to develop and articulate sound proposals to key stakeholders, and an ability to influence and drive timely decision making.
  • Proven ability to cultivate relationships and collaborate with multiple stakeholders and constituencies, including business leaders, legal, audit and multiple U.S. and non-U.S. regulators in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong leadership abilities to build and manage high-performing teams, ensuring proper staffing and expertise.

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$290,000.00 - $500,000.00
