Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks an Antenna SubSytems Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, California. As an Antenna Subsystems Engineer you will design, develop, and deliver state-of-the-art communication systems for space-based applications for commercial, civil and/or national security programs. You will work with a highly motivated team that works with domestic or international customers on their latest satellite systems.
Be part of a systems engineering team that specializes in antenna subsystem design and development for satellite systems. Work with large cross-functional teams including customers, suppliers, hardware and software engineers, integration and test engineers, and senior technologists to ensure that the final products meet the mission objectives. You will perform system analyses and simulations for space communications systems (including communications links and capacity modeling), optimize the system design by performing trade studies, flow down and verify subsystem and unit requirements, develop ConOps, and support hardware integration, verification, validation, qualification, and delivery activities. You will become the focal point for your area of responsibility!
Project assignments typically span the complete program life cycle, from internal trades, concept studies and system definition, to satellite development, launch, and on-orbit operations and test. This is a 1st shift position.
Primary Responsibilities:
In this position a successful Antenna SubSystems Engineer will:
  • Design and develop next generation RF, digital, and/or optical satellite communications systems and payload architectures
  • Support trade studies
  • Define and verify space communication system requirements and interfaces
  • Perform system-level CONOPS development, functional analysis, and requirements decomposition
  • Support system-level integration and validation
  • Perform analyses and simulations for space communication systems, including: link analysis, signal distortion, system capacity, reliability, and performance
  • Develop analysis tools using MATLAB and object-oriented software platforms
  • Develop and verify system algorithms that meet functional and performance requirements
  • Perform hardware procurement, design reviews, and unit sell-off
  • Perform system test preparation, execution, troubleshooting, and verification.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires a U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to Obtain U.S. Top Secret/SCI - Final Post-Start
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, or related STEM field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Level 2: Typically, 2 years or more of work related experience
  • Experience with requirements allocation, verification and validation, and qualification.
  • Experience with communications subsystems or units.
  • Experience with DOORs, Cameo, Jira, or MS Project
  • Track record of success working in teams

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Level 3: Typically, 5 years or more of work related experience
  • Level 4: Typically, 9 years or more of work related experience
  • Experience with digital communications
  • Experience with satellite or terrestrial communications systems and antenna theory
  • Experience in phased array antenna production and verification
  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink, C++, or Python.
  • Knowledge of good manufacturing practices, DFMAT, and design and process FMEAs.
  • Experience working with suppliers on custom part procurement

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Level 2 Summary pay range: $ 98,600 - $133,400
Level 3 Summary pay range: $ 119,850 - $162,150
Level 4 Summary pay range: $ 146,200 - $197,800
