Reporting to the Manager of Underwriting, the analyst will join a team of high performing and collaborative professionals, working closely together on the development and execution of Deriva's growth strategies in the U.S. The analyst will also support key initiatives related to capital deployment through both greenfield project development and M&A transactions.

The analyst will focus on supporting senior members of the team to evaluate renewable power investment opportunities, new growth initiatives, and capital recycling initiatives. Our strategy is to leverage Deriva's competitive advantages, including geographical scale, local presence, access to large-scale capital and our operations-oriented approach, to acquire high-quality assets on a value basis. This position would be suitable for candidates who thrive in a performance-driven environment that emphasizes employee leadership and accountability for delivering results.

This position is located at Deriva Energy’s Headquarters in Charlotte, N.C.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in transaction execution, which includes due diligence of potential investments, identifying key investment merits and risks, meeting with management, reviewing transaction documentation, and working in conjunction with third-party consultants as required

  • Conduct valuations of assets and companies in the renewable power space using various methods such as comparable company analysis, precedent transactions and Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) valuations

  • Build detailed financial models, incorporating tax equity and non-recourse debt, used in the evaluation of potential transactions and to support transaction execution

  • Coordinate with cross functional teams to contribute to the due diligence process and liaise with external stakeholders in evaluation of investment and greenfield development opportunities

  • Provide greenfield development analytical support through collaboration with development lead, engineering, operations, power marketing, risk, project finance and other groups to advance project development, PPA contracting and support internal project approval process

  • Provide M&A analytical support through financial, technical, and contracts due diligence and project valuation and financial structuring, to evaluate potential project acquisitions, submit purchase offers, negotiate purchase agreements and close on acquisitions

  • Perform industry research and evaluate new market segments and potential opportunities

  • Create presentation materials and present to C-Suite executives, senior management, and investment committees in a concise and comprehensive manner

  • Conduct special projects as required

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative fields such: as finance, business, economics, accounting, or engineering

  • In addition to a bachelor’s degree, two (2) years or more of relevant work experience, preferably in renewable power, infrastructure, private equity, investment banking, project finance, transaction services, FP&A, or a valuations function

  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, HS/GED AND six (6) years or more of relevant experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience conducting research and due diligence, evaluating transaction opportunities, performing financial and valuation analysis, and producing investment materials for senior management

  • Proven experience in detailed financial modeling in Excel including valuation and financing of investment opportunities

  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office tools

  • Professional with a positive attitude and capable of contributing to a collaborative, dynamic, and team-oriented culture

Working Conditions

  • This position is located in Charlotte, NC

  • Employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to the designated office location

  • This is an in office position with hybrid flexibility (4 days in office required)
