Partner with the CEO/COO to translate strategy into execution, build AI-enabled operating systems, drive cross-functional programs, run OKRs and planning cadences, scale vendor/procurement, and lead high-priority projects end-to-end.
Sequencing is building the interface between humanity and its DNA.
Using clinical-grade whole genome sequencing, AI, and a rapidly expanding ecosystem of genomic applications, we help people better understand themselves, their health, and their future through their DNA.
The human genome is one of the most valuable and underutilized resources in the world. Our mission is to transform the human genome into a lifelong source of personalized guidance and build the trusted home for every genome on Earth.
As the world’s largest direct-to-consumer whole genome sequencing platform, Sequencing is helping define the future of AI-powered personalized health.
We’re a profitable, venture-backed, fully remote company building category-defining products that help people better understand themselves through their DNA.
Sequencing is looking for a Chief of Staff to support the CEO and COO as we scale our operations, deepen our partner ecosystem, and build the internal infrastructure to match our ambitions in genomics and precision health. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role designed for a senior operator who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution, and AI-enabled operational leverage. You will drive the operating cadences, cross-functional programs, AI-enabled workflows, automation initiatives, and vendor processes that allow the company to move with clarity and speed. This is a build role. You will be stepping into a company with real momentum that needs someone to architect the systems, rhythms, and AI-powered internal operating model that sustain and accelerate it.
- Drive company execution against strategic priorities by partnering with the CEO, COO, and leadership team to translate strategy into clear plans, ensure alignment, and maintain momentum on the highest-impact initiatives
- Act as a force multiplier for the CEO and COO, helping prioritize focus, structure key decisions, and ensure follow-through on critical initiatives and cross-functional workstreams
- Identify and implement opportunities to use AI agents, automation, and lightweight systems to improve internal workflows, productivity, and cross-functional execution across Operations, Finance, Customer Success, and other teams.
- Build and run the company’s operating system, including leadership cadences, planning and review cycles, and decision-making frameworks that improve clarity, accountability, and speed across teams
- Own goal-setting and performance management (OKRs), ensuring tight alignment from company priorities to team execution, surfacing risks early, and driving accountability for results
- Drive cross-functional alignment and unblock execution, working across Product, Bioinformatics, Engineering and Marketing teams to resolve conflicts, clarify ownership, and keep initiatives moving
- Build and scale a centralized vendor and procurement function, standardizing vendor selection, contract negotiation, approval workflows, and renewal tracking across external labs, 3PL, SaaS/AI tools, and other partners to reduce risk, improve speed, and optimize spend
- Lead high-priority, ambiguous projects end-to-end, from problem definition through execution, particularly in areas critical to scaling the business
- Support resource planning and scaling efforts, partnering with Finance and leadership on budgeting, headcount planning, and ensuring strategic priorities are properly resourced
- 5+ years in consulting, strategy, or business operations with a track record of owning complex, cross-functional initiatives from definition through execution
- Experience operating in a fast-moving startup or similarly dynamic environment, with the ability to adapt quickly while maintaining focus on outcomes
- Exceptional organizational and execution skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-stakes workstreams and consistently drive them to completion
- Demonstrated fluency with AI tools, agents, and workflow automation, with a track record of using emerging technologies to create leverage, reduce manual work, and improve team productivity
- Proven ability to build and implement operating systems (e.g., planning cadences, OKRs, reporting, decision frameworks) that teams adopt and rely on
- Strong written and verbal communicator, capable of producing clear, executive-ready materials that drive alignment and decision-making
- High judgment and low ego: able to partner closely with senior leaders, push for clarity, and hold teams accountable while maintaining trust
- Systems thinker who uses process, tools, and data to improve speed, transparency, and reliability of execution
- Intellectual curiosity and comfort with technical domains; interest in genomics, health data, or complex data-driven products is strongly preferred
