Job Description SummarySystems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the user's needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.
Impacts the team's ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives. The role is subject to operating policy objectives. There is moderate autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide systems integration and requirement flowdown to preliminary design, performance, operability, controls and transient analysis disciplines
  • Provide systems integration and requirement flowdown to fuel sub-systems, electrical sub-systems and test facility
  • Ensure control systems tech maturation plans support a competitive next generation product offering
  • Ensure engine and rig test plans capture tech maturation and risk burndown objectives
  • Requirements and design integration of thermodynamic engine cycle model
  • Requirements and design integration of FADEC control software
  • Define and manage workscope, schedules and deliverables to ensure a successful program execution
  • Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing.
  • Manages interface between design, systems, and execution organizations.
  • Provides forward looking strategy for platforms and technology development / insertion to make product competitive.
  • Defines and provides scope management. (defines the what).
  • Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline.
  • Serves as best practice/quality resource.
  • Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area.
  • Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.
  • Takes new perspective on existing solutions.
  • Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
  • Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.

  • Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 6 years of aerothermal or systems integration experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Aerospace or equivalent industry.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.  We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain US government security clearance

Desired Characteristics

  • Master's degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Exposure to aviation engine design, SPOCT, and certification requirements.
  • 10 years of experience in design/development of turbomachinery.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Communicate and coordinate clearly with internal and external partners.
  • Communicate concisely and appropriately with both internal and external senior leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Passionate about giving & receiving mentorship.
  • Prior experience working with global cross-functional teams.
  • Able to work both in a global team and individually.
  • 10 years of experience in an Engineering position, especially with global and cross functional teams.
  • Ability to guide and influence others.
  • Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
