A Day in the Life:
The Accounting Manager will oversee all accounting functions, including managing the accounting team, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and preparing financial statements in compliance with accounting standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the financial health of the company, ensuring timely reporting, and supporting financial analysis and decision-making.
- Manage Accounting Operations: Oversee daily accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
 - Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and compliant with accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS, etc.).
 - Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of accountants, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient operations and professional development.
 - Internal Controls: Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial records, safeguard company assets, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
 - Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist FP&A with budget preparation and financial forecasting, offering insights into cost management, revenue forecasting, and variance analysis.
 - Audit Coordination: Liaise with external auditors during the annual audit process, ensuring all necessary information is provided and financial records are accurate.
 - Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate preparation of tax filings, including sales tax, income tax, and other relevant taxes.
 - Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements to streamline accounting workflows and increase efficiency.
 - Financial Analysis: Provide ad-hoc financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning by senior management.
 - Compliance & Regulations: Stay current on changes in accounting regulations and standards, and ensure the company’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
 
What it takes:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is highly preferred.
 - Experience: 5+ years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
 - Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite or similar), Microsoft Excel, and other financial tools.
 - Knowledge: Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP, IFRS)
 - Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage and mentor a team effectively, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
 - Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
 - Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and data analysis.
