Position Summary

We are seeking a highly technical, hands-on Accounting Manager to lead core accounting operations while helping scale a rapidly growing, private equity-backed organization. This role requires a CPA with strong GAAP expertise, exceptional operational accounting skills, and a proven track record of building processes, systems, and controls that support growth.

The Accounting Manager will partner closely with the Corporate Controller, executive leadership, finance, and operational teams to ensure financial accuracy, strengthen internal controls, support audits, and drive successful integration of acquired businesses. This individual is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to manage day-to-day accounting activities as they are leading strategic initiatives related to system implementations, process improvements, and merger integration efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
  • Oversee general ledger activities, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support timely decision-making through high-quality financial reporting.
  • Review and improve accounting processes to drive efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

Technical Accounting & Compliance

  • Serve as the organization's technical accounting expert.
  • Research and document accounting treatment for complex transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal accounting standards.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Lead implementation of best practices around controls, governance, and financial reporting.

Audit & Internal Controls

  • Lead annual financial statement audits and coordinate with external auditors.
  • Strengthen and maintain a robust internal control environment.
  • Design and implement scalable controls to support company growth.
  • Prepare audit schedules, documentation, and management responses.

Private Equity & Growth Initiatives

  • Support financial reporting requirements for private equity ownership.
  • Partner with leadership on strategic growth initiatives.
  • Develop scalable financial processes, reporting structures, and KPI frameworks.
  • Assist with board, lender, and investor reporting requirements.

Mergers & Acquisitions

  • Support accounting due diligence activities for acquisitions.
  • Lead post-acquisition accounting integration efforts.
  • Partner with acquired businesses to standardize accounting policies, procedures, and reporting.
  • Coordinate purchase accounting activities and integration of financial systems.
  • Drive successful onboarding of acquired entities into the corporate finance structure.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize accounting and ERP systems.
  • Lead finance-related technology initiatives and automation efforts.
  • Leverage data and reporting tools to improve visibility and decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and eliminate manual processes.

Leadership

  • Mentor and develop accounting team members.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, operations, HR, IT, and executive leadership teams.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA designation required.

Experience

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
  • Experience within private equity-backed or high-growth organizations strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience scaling accounting processes in rapidly growing companies.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, and business integrations.
  • Strong background in audit management and internal controls.
  • Experience leading ERP implementations, financial system upgrades, or accounting automation initiatives.

Technical Skills

  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Strong general ledger and close process expertise.
  • Experience with ERP and financial management systems.
  • Advanced Excel and financial reporting capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools preferred.
