We are seeking an Accounting Manager – Revenue & Settlements to join our dynamic Finance team in our Charlotte, North Carolina headquarters.

Summary

The Manager of Revenue and Settlements will manage a team of 4 to 5 professionals focus on all accounting responsibilities for all revenue processes including recording of revenue, invoicing customers, and monitoring customer receivables. The Manager will oversee the monthly accounting close for revenue, reporting processes, preparation and review of various deliverables, completing quarterly compliance and other functions as assigned. This role will require an ability to review contracts, ensure invoicing is properly set up and apply the principles within ASC 606.  The ideal candidate will possess strong attributes for attention to accuracy, be highly detailed oriented, have a high competency in accounting principles and be people oriented. This role will also assist in the implementation on a new Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) system. This role will report directly to the Director of Accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and oversee the daily operations of the Revenue and Settlement department

  • Provide planning & management oversight for the monthly close process including the review of journal entries, month and year to date variance analysis, and internal management reports and account reconciliations

  • Manage the monthly customer invoices including engagement with the various Independent System Operators (ISO) and/or Regional Transmission Organizations (RTO)

  • Monitoring and analyzing the accounting data for preparation of financial reports

  • Serve as the owner for key revenue processes and ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory and legal compliance

  • Work with the Technical Accounting team to ensure proper accounting treatment, in regard to ASC 606, has been determine for new customer contracts

  • Partner with internal stakeholders on various data request

  • As required, interface with joint venture partners, external auditors, vendors and consultants

  • Managing a team of professionals to perform and review results of management reporting, variance analysis and projection updates.

  • Complete ad hoc requests for internal and external parties or special projects, as assigned

 Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with major in accounting, finance or other closely related discipline

  • Five (5) years or more of related work experience with one year or more with direct reports

Desired Qualifications

  • Eight (8) years of progressive experience in revenue accounting or energy finance with one year or more with direct reports

  • Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures

  • Certified Public Accountant or other relevant certifications

  • Advanced degree in accounting, finance or other closely related discipline

  • Experience with managing a team of professionals

  • Experience with renewables industry

  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to manage multiple projects running concurrently

  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and be flexible with assignment changes as needed

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Experience and confidence interacting with senior management, parent company management, external auditors and external parties

  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a subject matter expert, recommending best practices based on expertise and institutional knowledge, communicating complex concepts to management, and

  • Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Power Point and PowerBI

  • Experience with PowerOptix
