POSITION SUMMARY:

The Business Manager oversees the organization’s finance and human resource functions to ensure efficient business operations and compliance with organization policies and applicable regulations. This position is a key administrative partner to the CEO by providing financial stewardship, support of employee lifecycles, and maintaining systems that promote organizational effectiveness and mission impact.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Financial Operations 

  1. Maintain accurate financial records, vendor records, financial documentation, and internal controls.

  2. Manage day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and financial recordkeeping.

  3. Reconcile bank statements, revenue, credit card expenses and petty cash.

  4. Provide customer service to staff and vendors regarding financial inquiries.

  5. Support budget development and monitoring.

  6. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.

  7. Coordinate and support annual audit through accurate records and documentation.

  8. Ensure compliance with all YMCA policies and GAAP.


Human Resources & Payroll
 

  1. Administer accurate, timely payroll processing and maintain accurate records.

  2. Assist with recruitment, onboarding, employee records management and training initiatives.

  3. Administer employee benefits programs and coordinate enrollment.

  4. Serve as a resource to staff regarding payroll, benefits, and human resource policies while maintaining confidentiality.

  5. Ensure compliance with all YMCA policies and Human Resource related regulations.

  6. Foster a positive, supportive workplace culture in line with YMCA mission, vision, and values. 

Other duties:

  1. Manage routine tasks without oversight, maintaining a high standard of thoroughness and accuracy.

  2. Provide administrative support to organizational leadership and contribute to continuous improvement of business processes.

  3. Other tasks as deemed necessary.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associate degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  2. Three or more years’ experience in accounting, payroll, HR, or business administration.
  3. Experience in a nonprofit environment preferred.
  4. Proficiency with accounting software, HR and payroll software, and Microsoft Office software; QuickBooks Online experience strongly preferred.
  5. Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Ability to manage confidential information and multiple priorities with accuracy and professionalism.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. On-site office role with occasional visits to YMCA branches and program sites.
  2. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and work at a computer.
  3. Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.

COMPENSATION:

$20 - $22 per hour Depending on experience.  40 hours per week on average.  Medical, dental and vision insurance per YMCA Policies.
