The Accountant will be responsible for supporting the accounting function for 7 Charter School entities supported by New Visions. This role will focus on performing key accounting responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on complex analysis, and reconciliation, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, and playing a key role in the month-end close process. The position is based out of the main office at New Visions and reports to the Associate Director of Accounting.
Essential Job Functions:
- Prepare receivables and cash receipts for Federal / State funding & school fees
- Maintain and record fixed assets
- Prepare journal entries for health account, self-insured plan, interest, shared interest and other transactions, as necessary
- Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts and due to/due from accounts
- Review general ledger detail for accuracy and research variations /discrepancies; recommend and prepare correcting journal entries as appropriate.
- Prepare monthly close financial statements, supporting schedules and analyses.
- Assist in preparing and disseminating weekly/monthly financial reports for the corporate officers of the schools, respond to school inquiries
- Generate and analyze reports and supporting schedules for outside auditors and State authorizers
- Prepare and file annual IRS form 1099s
- Understand fiscal reporting procedure and requirements of public/private contracts as outlined by funding agencies and work with school’s corporate officers to ensure compliance and timeliness
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field; or equivalent education and experience
- 3-5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience
- Expertise with general ledger systems required (MIP/Abila and SAGE Intacct strongly preferred)
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and experience with handling complex accounting analyses
- Strong analytical skills and a meticulous approach to problem-solving
- Ability to meet assigned deadlines and adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
- Spreadsheet and database experience, with the ability to learn new systems quickly
- Professional attitude, with the ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner

Salary Information
While the majority of new hires’ starting salaries shall be expected to be placed in the first half of the range(s) to allow space to grow in the job, for those who already have significant relevant experience at that level of the job, placement at the higher end of the range(s) is possible.
Pay Range
$64,766—$97,150 USD
