Position Description

We are open to considering candidates at various levels of expertise, and the salary range for this position will be commensurate with individual experience and qualifications.

We are seeking an experienced Alternative Investments Specialist (AIS) to join the U.S. Global Wealth Management (GWM) team. This role offers a dynamic opportunity within a rapidly expanding segment of GWM, partnering closely with Field Sales and Private Client Group (PCG) Account Managers and Account Associates—who own the advisor relationships—to help scale PIMCO’s alternatives distribution strategy in the West Region. As a dedicated subject matter expert, you will bring deep alternatives expertise into client and prospect meetings, pipeline discussions, and business planning sessions, educating advisors on PIMCO’s alternative products, platforms, investment themes, and market strategies. Through this partnership, you will support advisor engagement across Wirehouse, Independent Broker‑Dealer, and RIA channels, deepen awareness of PIMCO’s capabilities, and expand the firm’s presence in the alternatives marketplace. The AIS will support a territory aligned with Field and PCG coverage, maintain a strong regional presence, and manage select advisor relationships as business needs dictate.

Your responsibilities include delivering education and support to alternatives‑focused advisors, prospecting and onboarding new alternative‑capable relationships, and driving key business development and adoption metrics within your territory, including year‑over‑year net sales and new advisor adoption. Success requires strong alternatives knowledge, excellent communication and presentation skills, a growth‑oriented mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively across internal partners to advance advisor engagement and sales efforts. This role requires a nuanced understanding of the evolving financial advisory landscape, including how advisors evaluate, integrate, and implement alternative investments within client portfolios.

The AIS will play a proactive role in accelerating the growth of PIMCO’s alternatives business, contributing to increased advisor adoption, enhanced platform engagement, and measurable sales results. The ideal candidate brings proven sales experience, deep alternatives expertise, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional excellence.

  • Stay current on investment trends, themes, competitive insights, impacting alternative investments and the broader financial markets.

  • Provide proactive, solution-oriented feedback to internal stakeholders on product demand and sales trends to enhance the advisor experience and improve platform, product, and operational workflows.

  • Build strong partnerships with internal teams, including Product Strategy (PSG), Account Management, Sales Strategy, Marketing, Legal, Compliance, and Operational groups.

  • Monitor competitive landscape developments and share relevant insights with Sales Leadership and Product Strategy.

  • Adhere to all travel, expense reimbursement, and activity reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Uphold the highest standards of compliance with industry regulations, client firm policies, and PIMCO’s internal guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business, Finance, or Economics; CFA, CAIA, or MBA designations are a plus.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in financial services in an alternatives‑focused, client‑facing role (e.g., specialist, business development, relationship management, field sales).

  • Deep knowledge of the alternatives landscape, including investment trends, advisor practices, platform dynamics, and wealth management processes.

  • In‑depth familiarity with fixed income, private markets, and credit markets, including strategy types and product structures.

  • Proven ability to present alternative investment strategies and respond to complex questions.

  • Experience supporting and collaborating closely with field and sales teams within a territory‑coverage model.

  • Strong understanding of how advisors evaluate, access, and transact in alternative investments.

  • Strong client‑engagement capabilities, with a history of building lasting relationships and achieving high client satisfaction within the wealth management channel (RIAs, IBDs, and wirehouses).

  • Possession of Series 7, 3, and 63 licenses, or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment; clean U‑4 required.
