This position provides exposure to key business divisions including Actuarial Services, Asset Management, Business Management, Corporate Strategy and Development, Financial Analysis and Accounting, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Law and Policy, Marketing and Communications, Product and Business Development, Retirement Solutions, Risk and Compliance, Technology, and Wealth Management.

Key Roles and Duties

  • Support high-impact business initiatives by contributing to meaningful projects that directly support business objectives and client outcomes
  • Collaborate on strategic presentations and research projects, contributing to PowerPoint and Excel deliverables and analytical materials that inform key business decision-making
  • Support a variety of projects by helping to coordinate project materials and meetings to ensure seamless information flow across teams
  • Drive independent research initiatives to gather market intelligence, competitive analysis, and supporting documentation that advances business objectives

2026 Early Talent Internship: TIAA Enterprise Analytics 

The 10-week summer internship program is designed to challenge students by providing opportunities for hand-on experiences, skills training, and valuable professional networking to assist students with identifying and building on their career interests. This role gains experience and an overall feel for the company and the financial services industry by attending meetings, delivering presentations, exploring business-specific tasks, and working closely with cross-functional groups to better understand the TIAA and Nuveen’s businesses.   

The program includes an onboarding program followed by our ongoing speaker series, lunch-and-learns, and engagement activities, as well as direct access to executive and senior leadership, mentors and previous interns.   

Analytics Team Focus: The TIAA Enterprise Analytics (TEA) team leverages data-driven insights to solve complex business problems and drive strategic decision-making across TIAA. Our mission is to transform raw data into actionable intelligence that enhances customer experiences, optimizes business operations, and supports evidence-based strategic initiatives. 

Analytics interns will have opportunities to work across various analytical domains including: 

  • Business Intelligence & Reporting: Developing dashboards, automated reports, and data visualizations that provide key stakeholders with real-time business insights 

  • Predictive Analytics & Machine Learning: Building statistical models and algorithms to forecast trends, identify patterns, and support predictive decision-making 

  • Data Engineering & Management: Working with data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and supporting the infrastructure that enables advanced analytics 

  • Client Analytics & Insights: Analyzing client behavior, preferences, and journeys to drive personalization and improve client satisfaction 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:  

Summer Associates will work on strategically-aligned analytical projects that directly impact business outcomes and organizational strategy. Analytics interns will collaborate with data scientists, business analysts, and cross-functional teams while gaining exposure to cutting-edge analytical tools and methodologies. Candidates can expect to develop technical expertise in data analysis, statistical modeling, and business intelligence while solving real-world financial services challenges. 

Required Skills:  

  • Full-time student, pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.  

  • Rising sophomore or rising junior 

  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or better  

Preferred Skills:  

Preferred Majors: Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, or related quantitative fields 

Technical Skills: 

  • SQL: Writes basic to intermediate queries for data extraction and manipulation 

  • Programming: Basic scripting capabilities in Python/R for data analysis and automation 

  • Statistics: Applies descriptive statistics to analyze data patterns and trends 

  • Tools: Proficient with standard BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms) 

  • Deliverables: Creates standard reports that effectively communicate analytical findings 

Presentation Skills: 

  • Creates basic data visualizations that accurately represent findings and insights 

  • Contributes to team presentations with clear communication of analytical results 

Core Competencies: 

  • Strong analytical and quantitative reasoning abilities 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail 

  • Ability to translate complex data findings into clear, actionable business insights 

  • Interest in financial services, data analytics, and business intelligence 

  • Curiosity about emerging technologies in analytics and artificial intelligence 

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple analytical projects simultaneously

Anticipated Posting End Date:

Base Pay Range: $22.00/hr - $30.00/hr

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
