Your Responsibilities
As a Senior Engineer, Product - Embedded Software for John Deere in Waterloo, IA, you will:

  • Lead software development, perform and lead complicated bug investigations, propose solutions to subject matter experts, guide developers on adoption of new technical features, and guide the program's software development through the entire design process: from initial design to customer support;
  • Plan, coordinate and perform Deere product design, testing and/or analysis work for complete projects;
  • Operate in a team environment and may act as lead person, providing technical leadership and design solutions;
  • Produce and/or evaluate possible Deere design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of Deere engineering applications;
  • Compile and furnish necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document Deere design solutions to build prototypes and adopt designs;
  • Develop and execute tests or analysis plans for product verification and validation;
  • Analyze assignments and determine Deere engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for problems or projects;
  • Develop new applications of technology for Deere product development;
  • Lead in the resolution of product-line based difficult technical issues whether within the company or with outside suppliers.
  • 5% domestic travel required.


What Skills You Need

  • 5 years of experience in developing embedded applications using C or MATLAB Simulink
  • 5 years of experience working on multidomain distributed systems, with embedded software features spread across multiple microcontrollers
  • 5 years of experience working on multidomain distributed systems and J1939 or ISO 11783 CAN network communication protocols
  • 5 years of experience working in a Real Time Embedded Operating System, with a demonstrated understanding of task scheduling, utilizing I/O interrupts and best practices to meet real-time constraints with processing or memory limitations
  • 4 years of experience in defining a logical architecture for a system and requirements engineering (gathering, writing and reviewing) which involves outlining the information flow on a given system boundary and documenting the input to output relationship within
  • 4 years of experience with continuous integration development and automated build tools such as Jenkins or Github actions to automate a manual process to build, compile, and test a system or embedded project
  • 4 years of experience being the technical leader in a cross functional team that delivers a software feature or product to production (released and sold to customers)


Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field plus 5 years related experience.
