About the project 

Join a team maintaining and evolving an existing Django application. You’ll help ensure continuity while addressing bugs, maintaining the application, and delivering new functionality. 

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who can work autonomously, collaborate with the team, and use AI tools thoughtfully to support onboarding and development. 

What you’ll do 

• Take over and maintain an existing Django application, building on knowledge shared during the transition. 

• Investigate and fix bugs, and contribute to ongoing application maintenance. 

• Design and develop new features within the existing application. 

• Work with the team to review code and deliver changes that are clear, maintainable, and appropriate for the application. 

• Use AI tools to support onboarding, code review, and development while taking ownership of the work and keeping generated code focused and reviewable. 

• Take part in Nortal’s Technical Interviewer Program, conducting technical interviews for your account and other accounts to help build the teams behind Nortal’s growth. 

What makes you a great fit  

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field 

• Senior-level experience or above, with a high degree of autonomy. 

• Strong, hands-on Django experience is required. 

• Availability to work full time, eight hours per day, during European working hours. 

• A thoughtful approach to AI-assisted development, using it to support your work without generating large volumes of code that require extensive team review. 

• Advanced English is required for this role as you will work with US clients. Effective communication in English is essential to delivering the best solutions to our clients and expanding your horizons.
