Trench Group, a Berlin-based developer and manufacturer of power transmission components, has announced plans to expand its North American operations with the construction of a new bushing production facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. According to the company, its U.S. subsidiary, HSP US, LLC, is investing more than $60 million in the project, with production set to begin early next year.

This expansion follows Trench Group’s recent growth in Canada, including investments in its subsidiary, HSP Canada. The move is driven by the increasing demand for electricity, fueled by the rise of AI applications and the corresponding growth of large data centers.

Once fully developed, the Charlotte facility will span more than 215,000 square feet, with room for potential future expansion. The plant will specialize in manufacturing dry-type bushings and will feature vertical integration. It will also be home to one of the region’s most advanced high-voltage test laboratories.
