The System Design Engineer defines technical specifications for automated driving technologies, develops software solutions, and conducts design analysis while ensuring cross-functional alignment.

DUTIES:
Defines and designs the system design and technical specifications for automated driving technologies and ADAS. Generates technical solutions including specifying of requirements, functional decomposition, analysis, development, and testing for current, new and major programs. Designs systems interfaces and requirements, including detailed design development and validation using Protobufs and Feature Files. Develops software system team design content and software anomaly corrections. Performs complex design analysis. Specifies and balances system requirements. Provides, communicates, and supports common best practices among software community. Performs as subject matter expert for at least one platform or application component. Develops, maintains, and produces technical documentation and system or subsystem specifications with tools such as DNG, Rhapsody, Jira, Jama, GitHub, Confluence, and Visual Studio. Lead FMEA and the allocation of identified failure modes to execution teams. Applies solid technical understanding, critical reasoning, and a structured approach to solving problems in both familiar and unfamiliar domains. Participates with cross functional development team (System, SW) discussions to ensure alignment with peers and downstream customers in the product execution side of the business. REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, and three (3) years of experience as an Embedded Software Engineer, Telecommunications Network Engineer, or related role. OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and five (5) years of experience as an Embedded Software Engineer, Telecommunications Network Engineer, or related role. Must also have experience with: Developing software applications in C++ programming language; Using MATLAB and Simulink tools for embedded electronic controller (mechatronics layer) of industrial machine system applications; Designing, developing, and modifying software features and libraries to integrate them into various microcontrollers; Conducting Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA); Implementing electrical harnesses to program with the developed application; Designing and developing generator and legacy heavy duty machinery Application Programming Interfaces (APIs); Designing and writing test cases and corner cases in Python; Validating mechatronic signals in applications developed in C++; and Communicating on Controller Area Network (CAN) and Automotive Ethernet channels, using Vector CANape and CANalyzer tools.
