We are looking for a Senior Principal Solutions Architect to work alongside our balanced agile delivery teams on highly complex DoD projects, specifically the development of command and control (C2) software. Hypergiant with its partners is building an innovative cloud-based command and control system that seamlessly integrates existing capabilities and provides automation that improves efficiency and effectiveness of mission planning and execution. A perfect candidate is able to make effective buy / build / partner decisions, design and document system architecture, integrate with partner capability providers, and ensure code and product quality. This position will work alongside our product development team and other capability providers to develop and integrate reusable software components that are at the core of our product strategy.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Rapid prototyping and demonstration of software and hardware solutions in collaboration with developers, designers, product owners, and partner organizations
  • Coordinate solution design and architecture with existing product teams
  • Analyze technical alternatives and document key decisions
  • Address buy / build / partner decisions to support program cost and schedule analysis
  • Provide technical leadership across a balanced team of product owners, designers, and developers
  • Document architecture and product roadmap in coordination with product owners, designers, and developers

Required Qualifications 

  • 15+ years of professional software development experience (10+ with a computer science or engineering degree).
  • 10+ years demonstrated experience in managing, mentoring, and coaching development teams in an Agile environment.
  • 4+ years of experience using CI/CD environments to deliver working software. Proficient with version control and effective collaborative development workflows in a CI/CD environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to transition system design into organized, accessible, and performant software applications using web-compatible programming languages (e.g., Javascript, Typescript, HTML, CSS).
  • Solid understanding of modern application architecture, concepts like asynchronous and concurrent programming, and data mesh / data fabric concepts.
  • Ability to make effective architecture decisions and document them clearly.
  • Penchant for learning new technologies, balanced with strong pragmatic thinking.
  • US CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED. Must be eligible to obtain a CAC card for government information systems access.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • 4+ years application deployment experience on DOD platforms (e.g., Platform One Big Bang)
  • 4+ years of professional experience with React or other JavaScript frameworks.
  • 4+ years of enterprise-level software engineering or application development experience
  • Experience with mobile or distributed application development
  • Experience using GPU acceleration for geospatial information system visualization (e.g., using shader libraries like three.js)
  • Experience with mobile application development (e.g., Android, iOS, TAK)
  • Ability to perform logging and auditing for application troubleshooting and system wide metrics
  • Software / hardware integration and network technology experience
  • Active security clearance
