The role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to join our Home Loans Operations team. In this role, you will be instrumental in transforming raw data into actionable insights, driving process improvements, and supporting strategic decision-making within our mortgage origination function. You will work closely with operations and sales leaders to identify key performance indicators, develop reporting solutions, and uncover opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and improve the customer experience.
What you'll do:
Data Analysis & Reporting:
Conduct in-depth data analysis and utilize advanced analytics techniques to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies, providing insights into operational bottlenecks, areas for improvement, and potential risks.
Lead the collection, analysis, and interpretation of operations data to inform strategic decisions.
Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the efficiency of the operational teams. Program and monitor regular reports and dashboards to senior management on performance metrics and insights.
Process Improvement & Optimization:
Collaborate with operations managers to understand business challenges and identify opportunities for process optimization through data-driven insights.
Quantify the impact of proposed process changes and track the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
Analyze customer feedback and team performance metrics to drive improvements in customer satisfaction (NPS) while optimizing efficiencies in loan origination processes.
Collaborate with risk management teams to develop analytics frameworks that address and mitigate production risks. Focus on root-cause analysis to streamline processes and reduce operational risk.
Data Governance & Quality:
Work to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity within home loans operational systems and reporting tools.
Collaborate with IT and data governance teams to identify and resolve data quality issues.
Document data sources, definitions, and reporting methodologies to ensure consistency and transparency.
Ad-Hoc Analysis & Special Projects:
Perform ad-hoc analysis to support specific business needs, strategic initiatives, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in cross-functional projects related to system enhancements, new product launches, or operational efficiency programs.
Act as a trusted advisor to home loans operations leaders, providing data-driven recommendations and insights.
What you'll need:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
5+ years of experience in a Business Intelligence, Data Analyst, or similar role with a strong preference for experience within the financial services industry.
Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
Strong experience with at least one major Business Intelligence tool (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik Sense) for dashboard and report development.
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas).
Solid understanding of home loans/mortgage lifecycle, including origination, processing, underwriting, closing, and funding.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and data integrity.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with statistical analysis tools (e.g., R, Python).
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
Knowledge of relevant banking regulations and compliance requirements related to home loans.
